Samael

Fallen angel — what do you feel?

That in some ways, we are the same.

Our fall from grace is our infamous claim!

Our choices resulted in an understanding of suffering and shame.

A separation of the divine, the holy, and the pure

bound to this planet to both endure.

I too, cannot look into the face of God without trembling!

Perhaps we might see each other on the great day of reckoning.

But I was given an olive branch, there is a place prepared for me.

Where will you go when there is no land above or below to flee?

Fallen angel — what do you feel?

That we are the ones offered this miraculous rebirth.

Called light of the world and salt of the earth!

What were you meant to be?

Created in Their image and the authority to decree.

My being of dirt and dust are the ones called kindred.

God’s favored, the ones They call precious children.

Do you remember the cosmos? How did they dance to match Their desire?

The dark that pulls and the light that pushes out to burn brighter?

The royal blues, luminescent purples used to be yours!

What do you remember of the beginning of this universe’s score?

We are a stifled species limited by ego and arrogance,

but for us it was given this divine inheritance.

In Eden, were we not both responsible for what transpired?

Why am I given crowns and you, are wreathed in fire?

Fallen angel — what do you feel?

That your disobedience ripped you from Their grace

but mine is given forgiveness and a merciful embrace?

Is all you an example? A shadow to make the light higher?

A story? A villain? What is your character beyond thief and liar?

Breathed with the same breath and crafted by the same hands.

In Their omniscience, why did They not prepare you a sacred lamb?

Why are They a General to you but Savior to me?

Who is your divine son to hang from a wicked tree?

Samael, honestly! What is the difference between you and me?
